Embodied AI For The People 

We stand at a strange and powerful threshold. Embodied AI, robots, that can see, move, learn, and act in the physical world is no longer science fiction. Combined with abundant energy it is quietly rewriting the rules of work, ownership, scarcity, and freedom itself. 

The average human is about to face a choice that most of us have never had to make before. What kind of future do We actually want to live in?

Two possible paths to the same future: We will own nothing and be happy or we will own everything and be happy.

The first possibility leads to a very small group of Elites capturing most of the benefits until the machines grind to a halt because the majority has no capital to spend on goods and services. Then a tumultuous time when the machines will probably be seized by governments or the people so they can again have access to goods and services.

The second scenario leads to most people having ownership in most organizations so capital can move through the system freely. The machines won’t grind to a halt but eventually the capital moving through this kind of circular economy loses all meaning and becomes a pointless drain on intelligence and energy resources. So it will probably just disappear into the background. Of course some products or services that rely on scarce resources will still have to be controlled through some kind of monetary system but most things will probably be pretty much free.

A mixture of both scenarios will probably play out. Only time will tell.

In the end We will realize that unaligned organizational structures are unacceptable. Artificial scarcity (diamonds), consumer-based pricing (grocery stores), and other unaligned ways of driving up prices and profits for shareholders at the expense of the client or consumer. Ultimately the survival of an organization rests on the shoulders of the people. If We the people are not happy We will take Our capital elsewhere so the ultimate incentive is to keep their patrons happy and healthy. Anything else is unaligned behavior.

The cost of intelligence and energy will decrease considerably because embodied AI will optimize its capabilities through recursive self-improvement.

Ultimately organizations will streamline and optimize operations, driving down costs… and choose to decrease prices for their patrons not to put their competitors out of business (which is unaligned behavior) but for the benefit of their customers in order to survive in a symbiotic relationship with their clientele…

Embodied robotic AI is the key to pretty much Everyone being free.

The end result of our technological progress is almost certainly fully automated lifestyles that are individually aligned (The FSD Lifestyle) because embodied AI takes the place of the middle men. So we will have atoms, energy, and consumers. The consumers get to choose how they want the atoms arranged for their use… and the cost goes down to the cost of those atoms and the energy it takes to produce the product and deliver it to the consumer.

Logistics and coordination, or manipulating and moving atoms, becomes a negligible expense as embodied intelligence and abundant energy becomes ubiquitous.

AI Alignment solutions through personalized User Interfaces of most Services (Grocery Stores, Hospitals, DMVs…) while keeping and improving the social spaces (Parks, Botanical Gardens, Zoos, Restaurants, Bars, hair salons, Outside Activities…) and hybrids for other services (schools, libraries, tool libraries, farmers markets…) where one may just want a simple tool for a simple problem… or they may need to collaborate with other knowledgeable people on a specific problem or they may just want to talk to other human beings.

Right now we are heading full steam ahead on embodied super intelligence and abundant energy but alignment is up to Us. How We The People want these technologies to be organized and used is up to Us and not a very small select group of Elites. We have the open source technology! Now it’s time for Us to decide how to implement and align this extremely powerful future so it serves the many instead of the few.

The choice is still Ours.

In the end the machines will not decide for Us. They will simply amplify whatever structure We allow them to serve. If We stay passive, a handful of people will shape the world around their own incentives. If We stay awake, We can build systems that treat every person as an owner, a customer, and a free human being at the same time. Embodied AI can free Us from drudgery or it can lock Us into a new kind of dependency. The difference is not technical. It is human. And that difference is still completely in Our hands.
